Amelia Burns
Registered Psychologist
BPsych Hons
I am a Registered Psychologist passionate about supporting individuals through a gentle, client-centred, informed, and affirmative lens. I have worked in roles focussed on supporting the mental health and wellbeing of adolescents and adults from diverse cultural backgrounds presenting with a range of concerns including anxiety (generalised, social, panic attacks, and obsessive compulsive disorder), depression, stress, grief, adjustment concerns, trauma, alcohol and other substance use concerns, and acute and chronic pain, as well as neurodiverse individuals.
I aim to always provide a client-centred therapeutic approach. In the space I provide for clients, I value and draw on strong empathy and unconditional positive regard in recognising the complexity of circumstances many clients present with, and the importance of strong rapport in therapy as contributed to by my own authenticity. Evidence-based therapeutic approaches and interventions I have experience with include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, psychoeducation, and narrative therapy.
I look forward to meeting with you
